7 Lessons to Remember When the COVID-19 Pandemic Ends

Mindfulness

The COVID-19 pandemic has changed our lives and us individually as we know it— from our day to day routines, to our life goals and priorities- many people have had their worlds changed forever. But this year, if the vaccines drive down infections, and variants are kept at bay, life could return to some form of normal. Once society reaches this point, what are some of the things that we have learned from the past year and half that we can look back at? Are there any silver linings or lessons learned after COVID-19?

Aside from the obvious, healthcare workers, grocery store employees, teachers, and many other essential workers are amazing, and we owe them a huge debt for keeping us going. There are more lessons that the pandemic has taught us. Many of which we probably should have known all along, however, the current situation has brought them to light again.

Here are 7 lessons that COVID-19 has taught us:

  1. Family Matters More Than We Realized – Family provides benefits to our emotions and physical and mental health that can’t be found anywhere else.
  2. Self Care Is Important – Selfcare is vital to well-being, especially for yourself and for those around you.
  3. Prioritizing Mental Health – Mental health includes our emotional, psychological, and social well-being. It’s important to prioritize mental health as it affects how we think, feel and act.
  4. The Importance of Slowing Down – Hand in hand with prioritizing mental health comes the idea of the importance of not being so busy and instead focusing on what really matters to us.
  5. Do Things That Make You Happy – Not only is it important to do what we can to stay healthy and at ease, but also to make sure we’re doing things that make us happy.
  6. Technology Helps Us Stay Close – Community is essential and technology makes it a whole lot easier for us to stay connected. Many of us have become aware of how much we need other people—many have managed to maintain their social connections, by using technology to keep in touch.
  7. When Your World Gets Small, Nature Provides New Outlets – Nature provides a way to shake off the weight and hardships associated with stay-at-home orders and of social isolation during the pandemic.

The best life lessons are learned during hard times and when we make mistakes. These seven lessons to remember after COVID-19 are some of the things that we want to take forward into our next chapter of living.
