Family Activities During Isolation

Seasonal Blog

Just over one month ago, Canada introduced its #StayAtHome policy.

Many businesses have shut down completely; some employees have been instructed to work from home; travel companies and airlines have ceased operations for the foreseeable future; gatherings have been forbidden; and events have been cancelled from now until the summer. Although all of this has turned our sense of normalcy completely upside down, the measures are in place to ensure safety and to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

Businesses, communities and families from all over the world in fact have had to come up with innovative ways to navigate their new lifestyle.

For us, we’ve been focusing our efforts on creating a webinar series to help those working remotely or managing remote teams. We’ve also invested in compiling creative activities for families to enjoy while in isolation. Some highlights include DIY projects, at-home science experiments and creating your own paper dolls. There are also age-specific activities as well as helpful resources for your family’s mental health and general well-being.

Things have never changed so rapidly and been more uncertain. While the unprecedented circumstances have forced us to stay apart from our friends, extended family, and colleagues, it has given us the opportunity to reconnect and create valuable memories with our immediate family.
Conversations are more intentional and focused, with fewer distractions.

Right now, being flexible and creative will help us stay engaged and excited with whatever we are doing. Enjoy this time as much as you can. Practice patience, have grace with each other, because eventually, this too shall pass. And, we’ll be back to our regular grind and daily routines, and the abundance of time will be fleeting.

Please share with us any great resources you too have found to help you during this time.
