“Women entrepreneurs are trailblazers, shaping a future where leadership is defined by resilience, inclusivity, and transformative impact. Their influence sets the standard for a business world driven by purpose and meaningful change.” – Angela Ahrendts, former Senior VP of Retail for Apple
We had the privilege of attending the Heffner Women’s Leadership: 60 Career Lessons in 60 Minutes held at the Walper Hotel in Kitchener, ON.
Hosted by CTV News reporter Alexandra Pinto, women entrepreneurs from the region shared advice and expertise on leadership, career goals and life’s passion.
Anandi Carroll-Woolery, Program Coordinator & Editor, X Page Workshop, kicked off the event, followed by Meaghan Dietrich, President & CEO, The Gemini Agency; Angie Hill, Radio Personality, Bounce 99.5; Christine Hyde, Women’s Basketball Associate Coach, University of Waterloo Athletics; Region of Waterloo councillor Colleen James; and Chef Destiny Moser, Owner & Head Chef, FoodZen.
The common tips we heard were:
1) Define what success looks and feels like
2) Set measurable goals and protect them
3) Keep reinventing yourself and learn continuously
4) Speak your truth; know your worth; and stop seeking approval from others
5) Your mindset matters; self-reflect without self-judgement
6) Know your boundaries; communicate your feelings
7) Surround yourself with people who support you; build a strong network
8) Be brave and ask for what you want; advocate for yourself
9) Be ok with losing and embrace challenges
10) Take risks and break a leg!
What a true celebration of women’s empowerment – leaving us ready to conquer our professional and personal lives with courage and resilience. We’re proud to be a woman-owned business and support all who foster an environment where diverse voices and perspectives thrive.
